I love the way you write. It is refreshing and honest to the point stuff!
My wife and I will be there next year at a time best recommended by you. It will be a photographic week, and I would like to avoid the hazy atmosphere (veld fires I think?) of my trip some years back.
    What month do you recommend?
    Kind regards,
    Bob Butson

      Hi Bob
Thanks for your kind words! The clearest time is March. April and May are also very good because no fires have started then and the rainy season is at an end. Msasa time is my favourite – September but as you say – it is horribly hazy and not good for photographic work. Hope to see you in Chimanimani next year March/April or May! Cheer Jane High

Love the website, thinking of coming up over new years… Is hot springs still open?

    • Jane says:

      Hi Maria
Thanks for the kind comments regarding our web-site. Hot Springs is not operational as it has been taken over to accommodate the diamond mining going on at the nearby Marange Diamond Mines. Hope you can make it to Chimanimani over the New Year.

    Hi Jane!
Just wanted to say I’ve enjoyed reading your stories so much I’m now very late for bed! Your horses look fantastic, especially your old man! My thoroughbred mare is 17 and thinks she’s still 4…Would it be possible to go for a ride with you while staying? That would make my day! We’re planning on visiting family in Gweru 2 weeks between 15-31 of Dec but also want to do something for ourselves. Frog & Fern sounds perfect to me…Can be quite flexible with the dates. Have our 2 year old and maybe a 7 year old with us. Looking forward to hear from you!

Lovely website Jane and Dee! Making me homesick.

  7. Jane says:

Hullo Jane Meg is the daughter of Tempe and Doug van de Ruit who live down the road from us here. There are stands for sale and houses for sale in Chimanimani, yes. You would have to come and spend some time uo here…..better wait for the election to see what will take place first….
